MRC (Mekong River Commission)

The Mekong River Commission (MRC) is an organization formed by Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam to manage and coordinate the sustainable use of the Mekong River’s water resources. Its goal is to ensure the river's shared benefits—such as water supply, agriculture, fishery, and ecosystem health—while balancing development with environmental protection. The MRC facilitates cooperation among member countries, shares data, and promotes policies to prevent conflicts, manage flooding, and support sustainable development, recognizing that the river's health is vital for the region’s economies and communities.
