Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP)
The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) is a social and environmental organization founded in 1990 to promote the rights and well-being of the Ogoni people in Nigeria’s Niger Delta. The Ogoni have faced environmental damage, from oil extraction activities that contaminated their land and water, harming their health and livelihoods. MOSOP advocates for environmental justice, resource control, and fair treatment, aiming to protect Ogoni culture and demand accountability from government and oil companies. It has also been a voice for political and economic autonomy, fighting against exploitation and neglect of their community.
