Mount Krakatoa

Mount Krakatoa is a famous volcanic island located in Indonesia’s Sunda Strait. It is known for its massive eruption in 1883, which was one of the most powerful volcanic events in recorded history and caused global climate effects. The volcano is part of the Krakatoa island complex, which has multiple volcanic cones. After the 1883 eruption, the volcano was largely destroyed but eventually reawakened, and a new island, Anak Krakatoa (Child of Krakatoa), emerged in the 20th century. Today, Krakatoa is an active volcano, monitored closely for signs of future eruptions and continues to shape the landscape and local climate.
