Mount Erebus
Mount Erebus is an active volcano located on Ross Island in Antarctica. It stands about 12,000 feet (3,680 meters) tall and is known for its persistent lava lake at the summit, which continually bubbles and glows. Erebus is one of the southernmost active volcanoes on Earth, and its constant activity produces volcanic gases and ash. Its icy environment creates a striking contrast between ice and fire, making it a unique location for scientific study. Despite the extreme cold, Erebus has been erupting for thousands of years, contributing to our understanding of volcanic and planetary processes.
