Mount Alborz

Mount Alborz is a prominent mountain range in northern Iran, stretching approximately 700 kilometers from the northwest to the southeast. It forms a natural barrier between the Caspian Sea and Iran's central plateau. The range is notable for its rugged peaks, including Mount Damavand, the highest in Iran, and dense forests at its lower elevations. Geologically, it is part of the Alpide belt, resulting from tectonic collisions. Mount Alborz has significant ecological diversity, with varied flora and fauna, and features important water sources like rivers and glaciers that support regional ecosystems and human populations.
