Moulding Sand
Moulding sand is a specialized type of sand used in metal casting to create molds that shape liquid metal as it cools and solidifies. It is typically composed of fine, high-quality silica sand mixed with clay and sometimes other materials to improve its binding, durability, and ability to resist high temperatures. The sand is packed around a pattern to form a mold cavity, which takes the shape of the final object. Once the metal is poured into this cavity, the sand mold supports the shape during cooling, allowing for precise and complex metal parts to be produced efficiently.
