motor voter law

The Motor Voter Law, officially known as the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, aims to make voter registration easier. It requires state governments to offer registration opportunities at motor vehicle departments, so when you apply for or renew a driver’s license or state ID, you can also register to vote. The law also allows mail-in registration and ensures that eligible citizens are provided with information about voting. Its goal is to increase voter participation by removing barriers and making registration more accessible to all eligible voters.
