Motor neurons disease
Motor neuron disease (MND) is a group of neurological disorders that gradually damage and weaken the motor neurons—the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscle movements like walking, speaking, and swallowing. As these neurons deteriorate, signals from the brain to muscles are disrupted, leading to muscle weakness, loss of movement, and ultimately, difficulty with daily activities. MND progresses differently in individuals, but it generally worsens over time, affecting quality of life. While the exact cause is often unknown, some forms are linked to genetic factors. There is currently no cure, but treatment focuses on managing symptoms and maintaining function.
