Mossadegh (Mohammad Mossadegh)

Mohammad Mossadegh was an Iranian politician who served as Prime Minister from 1951 to 1953. He is best known for nationalizing Iran’s oil industry, challenging foreign control, especially by Britain. His policies aimed to boost Iran’s independence and economy, but they also faced opposition from external powers and internal rivals. In 1953, a covert operation supported by the U.S. and Britain led to his overthrow in a coup, restoring the monarchy’s power. Mossadegh remains a symbol of national sovereignty and resistance to foreign interference in Iran.
