MOSAiC (Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate)
MOSAiC, or the Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate, is a groundbreaking research project focused on understanding the Arctic climate. Conducted from 2019 to 2020, it involved a team of international scientists who drifted with an icebreaker ship, the RV Polarstern, through the Arctic Ocean. They collected data on various aspects of the environment, including ice, water, and atmospheric conditions. The goal was to study how climate change affects the Arctic and, in turn, global weather patterns, providing valuable insights for scientists and policymakers alike.
