Morphological species concept

The morphological species concept classifies species based on observable physical features, such as size, shape, and structure. It assumes that individuals with similar physical traits belong to the same species, while differences indicate separate species. This approach is often used for identifying species when genetic data isn't available, especially with fossils or preserved specimens. However, it can be limited because different species might look alike (convergent evolution), or members of the same species might vary physically. Overall, it relies on visible characteristics to distinguish species within the natural world.
