Moral Duty
Moral duty, in the context of deontological ethics, refers to the obligation to act according to certain moral rules or principles, regardless of the consequences. This ethical approach, often associated with philosopher Immanuel Kant, emphasizes that certain actions are inherently right or wrong based on their alignment with duty and moral law. For example, telling the truth is considered a moral duty, even if lying might lead to a better outcome. In this view, our actions should be guided by principles of fairness, respect, and justice, rather than just the results they produce.
