moons of Jupiter

Jupiter has many moons, with 95 confirmed so far, ranging from tiny asteroid-like objects to large, planet-sized bodies. The four largest moons—Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto—are called the Galilean moons, discovered by Galileo in 1610. These moons each have unique features: Io is volcanic and geologically active; Europa has a smooth icy surface possibly hiding an ocean beneath; Ganymede is the biggest moon in the solar system, larger than Mercury, with a mixed surface of ice and rock; Callisto has an ancient, heavily cratered surface. These moons provide valuable insights into planetary systems and potential habitability beyond Earth.
