Moon Treaty
The Moon Treaty is an international agreement established in 1979 under the United Nations, aimed at regulating the exploration and use of the Moon and other celestial bodies. It emphasizes that the Moon should be used for peaceful purposes, benefits should be shared globally, and that it cannot be owned or appropriated by any individual or country. The treaty encourages international oversight for activities on the Moon to prevent conflict and environmental harm. However, it has limited adoption, mainly by countries that do not currently engage heavily in lunar exploration, making it less influential than other space treaties.
