Moon-Face
Moon-Face is a side effect of certain steroid medications, particularly corticosteroids like prednisone. It causes the face to appear swollen and rounded, resembling a full moon, due to fluid retention and fat redistribution caused by the medication. This swelling is usually temporary and may resolve after reducing the dose or stopping the medication. Moon-Face is often associated with long-term steroid use and can also be seen in conditions like Cushing's syndrome, which involves excessive cortisol production. It’s a noticeable change in facial appearance resulting from internal hormonal effects, rather than any inherent facial abnormality.
