Monty, short for Monty Hall, refers to a probability puzzle based on a game show scenario. Imagine three doors: behind one is a prize, behind the others are goats. After you pick a door, the host (Monty Hall), who knows what’s behind each, opens a different door revealing a goat. You then have the choice to stick with your original pick or switch to the remaining unopened door. Mathematically, switching doubles your chances of winning from 1/3 to 2/3.
