Monte Verde
Monte Verde is an important archaeological site in Chile that provides evidence of human presence in the Americas around 14,500 years ago, predating the Clovis culture commonly thought to be the first inhabitants. The site contains well-preserved wooden structures, tools, and organic remains, indicating that early humans inhabited the area for an extended period. Its discovery challenges previous theories about the timing and routes of human migration into South America, suggesting that people arrived in the Americas earlier and possibly via different paths than previously believed. Monte Verde thus significantly reshapes our understanding of early human history in the New World.
