Montcalm (Marquis de Montcalm)

Louis-Joseph de Montcalm was a French military officer best known for leading French forces during the Seven Years' War in North America (1754–1763). He commanded French and Native American allies against the British, notably defending New France (Canada). Montcalm's strategic skills and leadership were pivotal in several battles, including the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in 1759, where he was fatally wounded. His efforts are credited with prolonging French resistance in North America, although ultimately, Britain gained control of French territories. He is remembered as a talented and respected commander in Canadian and military history.
