Monospot test

The Monospot test is a blood test used to help diagnose infectious mononucleosis, often called "mono," which is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. It detects certain antibodies that the immune system produces in response to the infection. When someone has mono, these antibodies can be found in the blood, and the test identifies them quickly and easily. The Monospot test is useful because it provides rapid results, helping doctors determine whether a patient’s symptoms are due to mono or another illness.
