Mononucleosis panel
A Mononucleosis panel is a group of blood tests used to diagnose Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection, which causes mononucleosis or "mono." It measures specific antibodies and markers in your blood to determine if you’ve been infected recently or in the past. The panel typically includes tests for heterophile antibodies (which appear during infection) and EBV-specific antibodies indicating different stages of the immune response. These results help healthcare providers confirm a diagnosis of mono, understand your immune status, and rule out other illnesses with similar symptoms.
