Monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS)
Monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) is a condition where abnormal plasma cells in the bone marrow produce a harmless protein called monoclonal protein or M protein. While it usually doesn’t cause symptoms or health problems, MGUS can sometimes progress to blood disorders like multiple myeloma or lymphoma over time. It’s often detected through blood tests done for other reasons. Most people with MGUS remain stable and don’t develop serious illness, but regular monitoring is important to catch any changes early.
