Monitor (NHS Improvement)

Monitor was an organization within NHS Improvement responsible for overseeing the financial health, operational performance, and quality of NHS Foundation Trusts in England. Its role was to ensure these hospitals and healthcare providers delivered high-quality care while maintaining financial stability. Monitor assessed trusts' performance, provided guidance, and intervened when necessary to support sustainable services and prevent financial or operational problems. In 2016, Monitor merged into NHS Improvement, streamlining oversight of NHS trusts and foundation trusts to improve efficiency and quality across the healthcare system.
