Monitor (Independent Regulator for NHS Foundation Trusts)
Monitor was the independent organization responsible for overseeing NHS Foundation Trusts in England, ensuring they provided safe, high-quality care and used resources effectively. It monitored financial health, governance, and patient safety, maintaining trust and accountability within the NHS. In 2016, Monitor merged with the Care Quality Commission and other bodies to form NHS Improvement, which now manages oversight and support for NHS foundation trusts and other NHS organizations. Their role was to ensure these providers met standards, treated patients fairly, and operated efficiently to deliver high-quality healthcare.
