Mongolian script

The Mongolian script is an ancient writing system traditionally used to write the Mongolian language. It is a vertical script that flows from top to bottom and from left to right, with characters that change shape depending on their position in a word. Unlike alphabetic scripts, it employs a combination of characters that represent sounds and syllables. Historically, it was the primary script for Mongolian texts until the 20th century, when Latin and Cyrillic scripts became more common. Today, efforts are underway to revive and preserve the traditional Mongolian script as a cultural and linguistic heritage.
