Molniya satellites

Molniya satellites are a type of communications satellite used primarily by Russia. They follow a unique, highly elliptical orbit that allows them to spend most of their time over high-latitude regions, like northern areas, for better coverage. This orbit takes about 12 hours to complete, with the satellite moving slowly across the sky, providing a stable signal for several hours at a time. Molniya satellites are especially useful for telecommunications and weather monitoring in regions where traditional satellites may not offer strong service. Their design has played a significant role in enhancing communications in remote areas.
