Molluscum Contagiosum

Molluscum Contagiosum is a common viral skin infection caused by the molluscum contagiosum virus. It results in small, round, firm bumps on the skin that may have a central dimple or plug. These bumps are usually painless, but can become itchy or irritated. The virus spreads through direct skin contact, including sexual contact, or by touching contaminated objects like towels or clothing. The condition is most common in children but can affect people of any age. It typically resolves on its own within several months to a year, although treatments are available to remove bumps or speed healing if necessary.
