Molecular Compounds

Molecular compounds are substances formed when two or more atoms bond together through covalent bonds, sharing electrons to achieve stability. These compounds are typically made from nonmetals and can consist of molecules like water (H₂O), carbon dioxide (CO₂), or methane (CH₄). The atoms in a molecule are held together by strong attractions, giving the compound specific properties such as boiling point and reactivity. Unlike ionic compounds, which involve transfer of electrons, molecular compounds involve sharing, resulting in neutral, covalently bonded structures. This bonding creates distinct molecules with unique chemical and physical characteristics.
