Molding sand

Molding sand is a specially prepared granular material used to create temporary molds for metal casting. It typically consists of silica sand mixed with binders like clay or chemical agents that give it strength and cohesion. When packed tightly around a pattern shape, the sand holds its form, allowing molten metal to be poured in. Once cooled and solidified, the mold is broken away, revealing the cast metal product. Molding sand is essential in foundries because it enables precise, reusable, and cost-effective shaping of complex metal components.
