Moiré fringe

A Moiré fringe is a pattern that appears when two regular grids or lines are overlaid at slightly different angles or spacing. This interference creates new, larger patterns that can look like ripples or waves. These fringes are often seen in imaging, printing, or on screens when examining fine line structures. They occur because the overlapping patterns interact, amplifying certain features while canceling others, which results in a visible, sometimes dynamic, fringe pattern. Moiré fringes can be both a helpful tool for measurement or a distraction, depending on the context.
