Mohawk Nation
The Mohawk Nation is one of the six tribes of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy, a longstanding Indigenous political alliance in North America. Historically, the Mohawk people are known as the "Keepers of the Eastern Door," playing a key role in regional sovereignty and diplomacy. They have their own language, cultural practices, and governance systems, often living in communities in what is now upstate New York and parts of Canada. Today, the Mohawk Nation continues to maintain its cultural identity, asserting rights over traditional lands and engaging in modern political and social issues.
