Mohammad Reza Shah

Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi was the last monarch of Iran, ruling from 1941 until the 1979 Iranian Revolution. He implemented modernizing reforms, including land redistribution, women's rights, and industrialization, known as the White Revolution. His reign was marked by significant economic growth, but also political repression and human rights abuses. Discontent grew due to corruption, authoritarianism, and a lack of political freedom. In 1979, widespread protests led to his overthrow, resulting in the establishment of the Islamic Republic under Ayatollah Khomeini. His legacy remains controversial, influencing Iran's political landscape to this day.
