Modified Rankin Scale

The Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) is a tool doctors use to measure how much a person’s daily abilities are affected after a stroke or brain injury. It ranges from 0 to 6: 0 means no symptoms at all, 1 indicates slight symptoms but complete independence, and higher scores show increasing levels of disability, with 5 meaning severe disability requiring constant care. A score of 6 means the person has passed away. The mRS helps healthcare providers assess recovery progress and plan treatment or rehabilitation strategies.
