Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) is a condition where a person, often a child, has an insufficient amount of body fat and muscle, leading to weight loss or a low weight-for-height measurement. It indicates a recent or ongoing nutritional deficiency but is less severe than severe acute malnutrition. MAM can weaken the immune system, increase vulnerability to illnesses, and impair growth, but it can often be treated effectively with proper nutritional support, such as improved diet and supplementation.
