Mitchell's Comet
Mitchell's Comet is a small, faint comet that orbits the Sun roughly every 120 years. Named after astronomer Elizabeth Roemer, who rediscovered it in 1948, it has an elongated orbit taking it from beyond the orbit of Neptune to relatively close to Earth. Due to its size and brightness, it is difficult to observe without specialized equipment, and it only appears visible from Earth when it approaches the inner solar system during its orbit. Its infrequent visits make it a notable object for astronomers studying the behavior and composition of comets originating from the distant parts of our solar system.
