MIT Leg Lab

The MIT Leg Lab, officially known as the MIT Leg Laboratory, was a research group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology focused on understanding and developing robotic-legged locomotion. Established in the 1980s, it combined engineering, computer science, and biomechanics to create robots capable of walking, climbing, and navigating complex terrains. The lab contributed advancements in robotic control systems, gait analysis, and the design of legged robots, helping to improve machines that can move more like animals or humans. Its work laid important groundwork for robotics used in exploration, disaster response, and assistive technologies.
