miRNA targets
miRNA targets refer to specific messenger RNA (mRNA) molecules in cells that miRNAs can bind to. miRNAs are small, naturally occurring RNA molecules that regulate gene expression by attaching to these mRNAs. When an miRNA binds to an mRNA target, it usually prevents the mRNA from producing a protein or leads to its degradation. This process helps control how much of certain proteins are made, influencing cell behavior and maintaining health. Essentially, miRNA targets are the specific gene messages that miRNAs regulate to fine-tune the cell's protein production.
