Mir space station

Mir was a Russian space station launched in 1986, serving as a research laboratory in orbit for over 15 years. It was a modular structure, assembled in space, and hosted astronauts and cosmonauts from around the world. Mir facilitated scientific experiments in microgravity, helped develop space technology, and trained astronauts for future missions. It operated until 2001, when it was decommissioned and re-entered Earth's atmosphere, burning up over the Pacific Ocean.
