Mir Jafar
Mir Jafar was a key figure in Indian history, known for his role as a military commander and politician in 18th-century Bengal. Initially a subordinate of the powerful Nawabs of Bengal, he became infamous after he betrayed his employer, Siraj-ud-Daula, the Nawab, in exchange for wealth and position from the British East India Company. His betrayal led to Siraj-ud-Daula’s defeat, enabling British dominance in Bengal. Mir Jafar later became Nawab himself but is often remembered for his disloyalty, which helped establish British control over much of India.
