Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs)
Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) are colleges and universities that primarily serve students from historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, such as African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Asian Americans. These institutions aim to promote higher education access, success, and research opportunities for these communities. Examples include historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), Hispanic-serving institutions (HSIs), and tribal colleges. MSIs play a crucial role in fostering diversity, cultural preservation, and social mobility by providing supportive environments and resources tailored to the needs of their student populations.
