Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF)
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF) was a government department in the UK responsible for supporting farming, managing fisheries, and ensuring food safety and security. It oversaw agricultural policies, promoted sustainable fishing practices, and regulated food production and safety standards. MAFF worked to support rural communities, protect natural resources, and ensure a stable supply of affordable, safe food for consumers. The department was active until 2002, after which its responsibilities were transferred to other government agencies, such as the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
