MinION

The MinION is a portable DNA sequencing device developed by Oxford Nanopore Technologies. It allows scientists to read the genetic code of DNA or RNA directly and quickly, right at the location of samples. Using tiny pores called nanopores, the MinION detects changes in electrical signals as molecules pass through, which are then translated into genetic information. Its compact size and ability to produce long reads make it useful in various fields like medicine, environmental science, and research, enabling rapid, on-site genome analysis without needing large laboratory equipment.
