Minimum Contacts

Minimum contacts refer to the minimum level of interaction or connection a person or business must have with a location (such as a state or country) for that jurisdiction to have the authority to hear a legal case involving them. It ensures that the defendant has purposefully engaged with the area in a way that makes legal proceedings fair and appropriate. For example, a company doing regular business, advertising, or selling products in a state would meet these minimum contacts, allowing courts in that state to exercise jurisdiction over them.
