Minidoka

Minidoka was a World War II-era internment camp in Idaho where the U.S. government incarcerated approximately 13,000 Japanese Americans, mostly U.S. citizens, from 1942 to 1945. Established following Executive Order 9066, the camp reflected a period of national fear and prejudice after Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. Internment involved harsh living conditions, loss of freedom, and separation from families. Today, Minidoka serves as a memorial, recognizing the injustice faced by Japanese Americans and emphasizing the importance of protecting civil rights during times of national crisis.
