Ming treasure ships

Ming treasure ships were large, impressive vessels built during China's Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) for extensive ocean expeditions. Led by Admiral Zheng He in the early 15th century, these ships were among the largest wooden ships ever constructed, measuring up to 400 feet long. Designed for long voyages, they carried valuable goods, gifts, and diplomats across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, establishing trade routes and diplomatic ties. Their impressive size and advanced navigation helped demonstrate China's maritime strength. After Zheng He's voyages, the ships were often dismantled or left unused, and China shifted focus inward, contributing to the period's historical and maritime significance.
