Minaret of Ibn Tulun
The Minaret of Ibn Tulun is a historic brick tower in Cairo, Egypt, built around 879 AD. It stands about 70 meters tall and served as a call to prayer for Muslims. Its unique spiral staircase wraps around the interior, visible from the outside as a patterned brick design. The minaret’s design reflects Abbasid architecture, combining functional elegance with decorative brickwork. It was part of the Ibn Tulun Mosque, one of Egypt’s oldest and most significant mosques. Today, it remains an important cultural monument, showcasing medieval Islamic craftsmanship and architecture.
