Millau Viaduct
The Millau Viaduct is a striking cable-stayed bridge in southern France that spans the Tarn River Valley. Designed by architects Norman Foster and engineer Michel Virlogeux, it’s one of the tallest bridges in the world, with its tallest mast reaching 343 meters (about 1,125 feet). The bridge consists of multiple lightweight pylons supporting the roadway via cables, allowing for a long, unobstructed span that reduces environmental impact and enhances travel efficiency. Opened in 2004, it’s celebrated for its innovative design and aesthetic appeal, seamlessly blending engineering excellence with scenic landscape integration.
