Mikvé Israel
Mikvé Israel is a historic Jewish synagogue located in Curaçao, established in 1651, making it the oldest synagogu in continuous use in the Americas. It serves as a religious and cultural center for the Jewish community, featuring a distinctive white limestone architecture. The synagogue is renowned for its beautiful interior, historical significance, and the nearby dry lagoon where Jewish ceremonial baths (mikvé) are located—unique because the lagoon is naturally dry, reflecting adaptive tradition. Mikvé Israel represents a rich heritage of Sephardic Jews in the Caribbean, symbolizing resilience, faith, and cultural identity.
