Mikołaj Rej was a Polish Renaissance poet and writer, often regarded as the father of Polish literature. Born in 1505, he is known for writing in the Polish language, which was significant at a time when much literature was in Latin. His works included satirical poetry, drama, and prose, often exploring social and moral themes. Rej's writing helped to elevate the Polish language and culture, making literature accessible to a broader audience. His famous motto, "Poland's glory is her language," reflects his commitment to fostering a national identity through literature. He passed away in 1569.
