Miklós Horthy
Miklós Horthy was a Hungarian naval officer and politician who served as Regent of Hungary from 1920 to 1944. After World War I, he led Hungary's government during a turbulent period marked by territorial losses and political instability. Horthy aimed to preserve Hungary's sovereignty and stability, aligning at times with Nazi Germany. His rule included efforts to regain lost land and suppress opposition, but it also drew criticism for authoritarian tendencies and collaboration with fascist regimes. His leadership ended as Hungary moved toward liberation and a new government in 1944, marking the decline of his influence.
