Mihr
Mihr is a term used in Islamic architecture referring to a niche in the wall of a mosque's prayer hall that indicates the qibla— the direction Muslims face during prayer, towards the Kaaba in Mecca. It is often elaborately decorated and positioned so that worshippers can easily align themselves correctly. The mihrab serves both a functional and symbolic purpose, guiding prayer orientation and representing the spiritual center of the mosque. Its design varies across cultures, but it always signifies the importance of facing Mecca during worship.
